Alexa Wright recently used the spaces of Hospitalfield to produce a powerful series of digital images.These questioned the role of the ideal in our conception of the body and otherness in relation to disability and "the beautiful." Enlightenment notions of perfectibility and progress have a shadow side; the creation of a darker and unacknowledged body which haunts our daily lives; it provides impossible measures for desire and self-image, as well as condemning vast numbers of people to "inferiority."
